Just like the Dark Souls series, The Surge 2 is a difficult but fair RPG with a variety of enemies that require some serious thought and strategy to defeat. The combinations of sword attacks and gunplay have a polished look and feel, which is very reminiscent of action films like The Matrix and Blade. It is the direct sequel to Shadow of Mordor and it retains the fluid combat system of its predecessor with its free-flowing mechanics that allow the protagonist Talion to defeat multiple enemies. The mechanics are reminiscent of the Batman Arkham series albeit with far more brutal moves and finishers. It features a one-hit-kill combat system and where you can injure or cripple their opponents to obtain the win. Dishonored was released in and despite its age, the stealth action title is still one of the most creative games on any system.

It gives you the freedom to tackle missions and eliminate targets how they see fit. Yet despite its focus on stealth Dishonored has a surprisingly robust and responsive combat system.

It's a game that rewards patience and that transfers into the fights too as landing slick counters and defending oncoming attacks does a great job of making you feel like a ninja. The hack and slash series was developed by Team Ninja and remains one of the most challenging games on any platform. The combat system is fluid and responsive and battles require finesse, skill, and a lot of patience. They are difficult games to master but there's a sense of accomplishment to getting to grips with the system.

If you enjoy some of those old PC RPGs that are very narrative-driven then that might not be a problem for you. Mordhau is a hack-and-slash style multiplayer video game, almost similar to For Honor. Players will enter a battle filled with over sixty players as they attempt to outlast or bring victory to their team. Soulcalibur is a fighting game that got its start in where it was called Soul Edge in the arcades.

However, since then the franchise has continued to see new installments released for console and PC platforms. The latest of which is Soulcalibur VI from The game series is easy to get involved with as it still has the arcade-style of combat where you can pick up a controller and start delivering some powerful attacks against your opponent without too much of a learning curve. There is a storyline attached with the latest installment acting as a reboot to the entire series so this would make for a great jumping point into the franchise.

As for the combat, each match involves two characters with their respected weapons. To go one step further, there are special guest fighters that are added into games with the latest installment featuring 2B from Nier: Automata and Geralt of Rivia from The Witcher.

Bushido Blade is a fighting game that came out back in for the original PlayStation console. However, before you go swinging your blade around there are some restrictions to the fights. As mentioned, this is a fighting game, but there are some customization options right from the start. Players can pick from a selection of characters and from there decide on what weapon to pick from to start the game.

This includes the likes of a Katana, a long sword, to even a sledgehammer. Nidhogg is a simplistic indie title that launched back in from developer Messhof. The video game is a fast-paced fencing title in which players start the title off with two players ready for a battle to the death. Nidhogg 2 builds upon the smash-hit indie sword fighting game while taking its visuals in a completely new direction that you will either really love or hate. However, the rules are pretty much the same: reach the other side of the level and kill anyone in your way using various blades, bows, and sometimes just your foot.

The sequel also spices things up with new weapons, levels, character customization, 8-player tournaments, and a soundtrack so good it should be illegal. For Honor is a third-person sword arena fighter in which you play as a Knight, Viking, or Samurai, and face-off against other players and AI enemies across various modes.

In it, you customize your hero using an assortment of class-based weapons, emblems, and more while mastering techniques via in-depth training tutorials. Lastly, For Honor has improved its network performance thanks to dedicated servers, resulting in more stable connections during matches.
